Red House

Red House

The original Red House opened in 1848 as new offices for the Government. In 1897, the building was painted red as part of the preparations for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, and was, from then on, known as Red House. In March of 1903 the building was completely destroyed by another fire which started during the Water Riots. The new Red House was opened in 1907 and is still in use today.
